There it is, one of the most oft-quoted and recognizable phrases of the American consciousness. I’ll go out on a limb here and suggest we have never had a president who couldn’t quote it… until now. Joe Biden turned that magnificent phrase from America’s Declaration of Independence into his personal Declaration of Depends.

When we read Orwell’s, “War is Peace; Freedom is Slavery; Ignorance is Strength,” we never saw it as a given. Rather, most of us understood it as a warning; a warning to avoid the thinking that might eventually cause it to become reality. Well, as Brion James playing Leon Kowalski, an antagonistic Replicant in “Blade Runner” said, “Wake up, time to die!” … I’m here to tell you, we’re there. It’s no longer the stuff of futuristic science fiction. The purge of conservative, logical, objective, self-determined, thought has begun. The only question left is, will it succeed in silencing millions of us?
