George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Martin Luther King, Jr. … all great men, arguably among the greatest; each with serious flaws of his own.
Can anyone argue the case that Thomas Jefferson, an intellectual giant, does not stand in that circle, possibly at the head? Yet we have finally reached a new pinnacle of madness where we are ready to jettison Thomas Jefferson from public life. Should we also jettison his accomplishments? Picky little men and women, pusillanimous pipsqueaks the lot, who take it upon themselves to sit in judgment of such a giant of free and independent thinking… how have we come to this?
What are we to do with a document from such a seriously flawed individual? Are we to take seriously anything that Mr. Jefferson wrote in the Declaration of Independence? is the Constitution not far behind? Our legislative branch, executive branch, and judicial branch, have ignored the Constitution for years. Why keep up the charade that it is our guiding document and the foundation of the Rule of Law? it’s just a bothersome piece of paper to our “enlightened” leaders. Whatever happened to the Servant-Leader?
“But he that is greatest among you shall be your servant” – (Jesus Christ from Matthew 23:11).
The United States of America passed from Republic to Empire before our lifetimes; it only now becomes evident to those of us with eyes to see and ears to hear. We can be sure that we will tread the path of every great Empire before us and march ourselves directly into oblivion; there’s no turning back now.
R.I.P. to the Grand Experiment in self-governance, it was a good run while it lasted and the retelling of which will, possibly, inspire some future generation within whom, once again, the smoldering embers of liberty break into open flame again.
