Gun Control ain’t about Controlling Guns, it’s all about Controlling People
Let’s be clear, the gun control lobby has one objective: to remove firearms from the hands of law-abiding gun owners while doing nothing to control the free flow of such amongst criminals for whom violence is a way of life.
Sure, we see the hand-wringing every day over how the anti-gun crowd wants to outlaw guns to protect us and keep us safe, but like we used to say, and they never seem to realize, “locks are for honest people.” In other words, when 15-round magazines are ruled illegal, who respects such laws? Law-abiding gun owners or criminals?
Why would California reject laws that allow judges to pass harsher sentences on criminals committing their crimes with the use of a gun and at the same time refuse to allow teachers, trained in the use of firearms, to keep a firearm handy as protection against mass shooters who prey on schools that they know are unprotected? Who is actually being protected here, the criminals or the victims?
Again, gun-grabbing politicians, all protected by armed security guards, assure us that we don’t need guns, withholding from us the same protection they make sure they have, and that it is in seeking our well-being that they wish to confiscate our firearms.
I’m sure King George III had similar intentions when he desired to disarm the American colonists. And “just after the Redcoats’ attempt to seize the arms of the rebel militia at Lexington and Concord in 1775, Gen. Thomas Gage ordered all the inhabitants of Boston to turn in their arms at Faneuil Hall for temporary safekeeping. When the people complied, troops seized the firearms, never to return them.”
One wonders how it was that Canadians didn’t tar and feather Justin Trudeau after he said, “You can’t use a gun for self-protection in Canada. It’s not a right that you have.” Do you have the right to your life, and the defense of it, or does that right rest with the criminal attempting to deprive you of life? When did the criminal’s life become ascendant over the life of the victim?
You can be sure that the attempt to confiscate firearms has nothing to do with your safety and has everything do with control. It’s what government bureaucrats do… think masking, social distancing, mandated vaccines, mandated business closings, school closings, church closings… It never ends for these busybodies who would gladly assure you that they know what’s better for you than you do.
Anecdotally, on January 21st, 2023, at the Star Ballroom Dance Studio in Monterey Park, CA, a shooter with a Cobray 9mm MAC-10 shot 11 people dead and wounded 9 others. The shooter used a 30-round magazine… How could that be, 30-round magazines are illegal to possess in California? Oh wait, I guess that only applies to those who abide by the law. We’ll never know why he so callously disregarded the law that we have been told over and over again will protect us and those 20 people since the shooter, himself, is also dead. So, what exactly did banning such magazines accomplish? Well, for the gun-grabbers, the fact that it keeps you and me from possessing a 30-round magazine makes them happy. The fact that criminals, with no regard for the laws these idiots pass, are not restrained by these laws doesn’t seem to ever enter their cranial area.
